Database Development
Database development is a very general term normally used to refer to a software solution that stores data. This solution will typically be constructed of 3 components, User Interface, Middleware and a Database.
The database is the repository where the data is stored typically using one of the following products:

  • Microsoft SQL Server
  • Microsoft Access
  • Oracle
  • MySQL
  • SQLite

The database aspect of a modern software solution is hidden and invisible to the end user and thus taken for granted. The expertise required to design and build a database should not be underestimated. If there is one aspect of a solution that can cause instability and poor performance the database is where it will likely be found. A poorly designed and implemented database solution will typically escape detection until either volumes of data increase or the number of users accessing the system increases. Caboodal adhere to Third Normal Form (3NF) principals of database design which has long been established as the industry standard. These principals in turn ensure an efficient database that performs well under all conditions.
Caboodal have a many years of experience designing and building bespoke software within a wide range of market sectors. Understanding your business is one of the most important aspects to any project we undertake. We always strive to minimise any operational impact a new system may have, and through meticulous user interface design the resistance to change from existing staff members is kept to a minimum.
:: Microsoft SQL Server
Microsoft's database solution is a suitable repository for both small low volume applications and high end enterprise standard systems supporting millions of records.
:: MySQL Server
MySQL is popular for web applications. Its popularity for use with web applications is closely tied to the popularity of PHP, which is often combined with MySQL. MySQL has proved itself as a scalable system deployable in enterprise appications.
